GPA has served the light hydrocarbons industry since 1921 as an incorporated non-profit trade association. Our corporate members are engaged in the processing of natural gas into merchantable pipeline gas, volume movement, or further processing of liquid products from natural gas. Member companies represent approximately 92% of all natural gas liquids produced in the United States and operate approximately 190,000 miles of domestic gas gathering lines.

Adopted June 2009:
We are the primary advocates for a sustainable Midstream Industry focused on enhancing the viability of natural gas and natural gas liquids. We provide local, regional and global forums to develop standards, conduct industry research, educate our workforce and improve operational safety. As advocates, we work with legislators and regulators to promote a safe and viable Midstream Industry.
Since the beginning of the oil industry in 1859, natural gas and gas liquids have supplied about one-half of total petroleum energy production in the United States. They currently account for some 60% of total U.S. petroleum energy production and an estimated 40% of the world's petroleum energy production. Download the entire report.
Each year at our annual GPA Convention, we recognize a number of outstanding individuals who have provided invaluable service to the midstream industry and our Association.
