EHSC assists GPA members in the environmental, health, safety and pipeline safety areas. Committee members provide assistance to LARAC, maintain liaisons with agencies, serve on various agency / industry committees, provide comments on specific issues, and provide guidance to GPA or individual companies as appropriate. EHSC supervises three standing subcommittees:
Environmental Subcommittee I Pipeline Safety Subcommittee
Safety Subcommittee
This subcommittee is responsible for environmental issues, particularly those of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and equivalent state agencies where gas processing operations are affected.
GPA members encouraged to submit applications for Environmental Excellence Awards...The Environmental Subcommittee encourages members to submit applications for this project-based award created to honor companies' achievements in energy conservation and environmental support. The self-nomination process is now open for companies to be considered for the 2011 award recognition at the GPA Convention, where they will be able to demonstrate their projects so that other member companies may benefit. The application deadline is Sept. 1. Full program details and application forms can be found on this web page.
This subcommittee is responsible for pipeline safety issues, particularly those of the Department of Transportation (DOT) and equivalent state agencies governing pipeline transport of natural gas and gas liquids.
This subcommittee is responsible for safety and health issues, particularly those of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Despite gas processing involving volatile substances at high pressures, the industry has a superb safety record. GPA's Safety Committee has contributed to this record by bringing together safety managers from member companies who share experiences and ideas that can be used by all to upgrade safety practices at their own facilities.
This committee compiles and publishes safety statistics for the gas processing industry. These statistics are useful in evaluating individual performance, identifying problem areas in individual company operations and assisting with proposed legislation/regulation.
We're already planning for the 2011 GPA Convention. Mark your calendars!
